Big Money is the nickname, which is what everybody, is calling The Detroit Lions new hot shot rookie Quarterback, Matthew Stafford. He was the first selection in the 2009 NFL Draft. Supposedly he is going to be the savior of The Detroit Lions Organization. After being the only team in NFL history to go 0-16, and to not win a single game they sure invested deeply into this unproven rookie, who has yet to take an official snap in the NFL. What I am saying is $41.7 million in guaranteed money could go to waste. The full six-year contract is worth $72 million with playing time incentives. I sure hope this kid is worth what they invested in. For now Stafford probably will not be the starter, I think it would be better for this kid to have a learning curve before he ever steps out onto the field. This team needs changes other than few perks to their logo. Hopefully this off season is a step to a new beginning. All of the roster changes, coaching staff, and change of attitude should bring a fresh start to the new season up ahead.
It could be a wasted contract , for sure. There are some positives here , like Stafford being the best QB in the draft for a Linehan offense. Culpepper is in shape , and looks good in camp. He will also benefit from a Linehan offense and give Stafford time to grow into it.
ReplyDeleteThen again , it could be a wasted contract.
